Meet Laura Horzempa DPT
Training and Background
Laura Horzempa is a highly skilled physical therapist who earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Baylor University. Prior to that, she completed her undergraduate studies at Belmont University in Nashville, TN.
Growing up in Texas, she competed in softball and basketball, which solidified her passion for sports, exercise, and health. Having personally experienced knee injuries, she was introduced to the field of physical therapy at an early age. This personal experience ignited her passion for helping others recover from injuries and optimize their athletic potential. She has also dedicated time to coaching women’s college basketball, where she developed tailored strength and conditioning programs for her athletes, emphasizing injury prevention and enhancing athletic potential.
With a foundation in competitive sports, her passion for fitness, health, and exercise has evolved into a deep exploration of movement and the human body. Her current quest dives into a movement practice utilizing the principles of the Ido Portal Method where she engages in ground-based movements, locomotion patterns, hand balancing, and bodyweight strength exercises. It incorporates elements from various disciplines such as gymnastics, martial arts, dance, and yoga to create a comprehensive and dynamic training system aimed to improve movement quality, mobility, and overall physical performance. The method encourages individuals to explore and expand their movement capabilities, break through physical limitations, and cultivate a deeper connection with their bodies.
